Cabin Fever

1 - Indoors

I’ve been holed up in my room much of the time these past couple weeks. After traveling back from visiting Sharlene’s family over the holidays, I got some mild cold-like symptoms, and given the big Omicron surge I’ve been self-isolating and trying to rest up. No more running errands or biking for now. But in some ways, it’s been a nice change and a good excuse to just stay in. I’ve gotten to really appreciate how the soft winter sunlight falls into my bedroom.

2 - Hills

It’s been a pretty decent rainy season so far here in California, and the hills are a beautiful rich green. Normally, I’d bike through this area, but today I drove out here and walked around with my camera.

I haven’t been shooting much with my Fujifilm camera these past couple of years. I used to take the camera out a lot on camping trips or car trips, but most of my trips here in the Bay Area have been on my road bike with just the essentials for minimal weight and maximum speed. So it’s been mostly iPhone snapshots, which are fine, but lack magic. I’m thinking maybe I should just suck it up and bring the camera along on the bike more this year, and maybe it’ll be worth it. I’m also toying with the idea of buying a small light 35mm film point-and-shoot for this purpose… we’ll see.
